The internet has been going nuts over “The Kennedy” since they were revealed last December and we finally have a release date for the sailing inspired sneaker. According to Boston area sneaker store Concepts, “The Kennedy” will be available April 2nd in store (ignore the 4/1/11 date you’ve heard). If you are not in the Beantown area Concepts will be taking phone orders the following Monday beginning at 12 noon EST.

We can’t announce the price range yet but it’s reasonable, considering the craftsmanship that went into making these joints.

We rarely post collections strictly aimed at the fairer species but Converse’s latest offering featuring designs from Finnish design house Marimekko is a worthy exception. The spring 2011 collection pairs Converse’s most popular silhouettes with the brand’s signature prints.

The Converse Marimekko designs are available in the Chuck Taylor All Star High and Ox, Jack Purcell Helen and a brand-new silhouette, the Chuck Taylor All Star PJ. Shoes will retail for $75-$85 and will be available in women’s sizing 5 – 11. The collection will be available at premium retail outlets and at www.converse.com.

Chicago Bulls superstar guard Derrick Rose will debut a new version of his adidas signature shoe at the NBA All-Star game on 2/20. The second version of Derrick Rose’s signature shoe, the adiZero Rose 1.5 is lighter and more supportive than its predecessor because of a new formulation of Sprintskin. There is also a personalized touch to the adiZero Rose 1.5’s as the three-paneled Sprintskin zones represent each of Derrick’s brothers (Reggie, Allan, and Dwayne) who helped support him through his journey to the NBA.

Rose will begin the All-Star Game in a yellow colorway of the adiZero Rose 1 and debut the adiZero Rose 1.5 in the second half.

The kicks go on sale exclusively at Footlocker on 2/18 for $100.

etnies is doing their part to save the environment by using  old rubber gloves, bike tires, plastic bottles to make fresh new kicks. The 2011 Eco Friendly Collection is etnies answer to sustainability. The collection features versions of the Jameson 2, Jameson 2 Mid, RVS, Taylor LS and Senix Mid LX in a variety of colors.

Valentine’s Day means flowers, candy and expensive dinners but it also means new red kicks. DC’s entry into the annual V-day extravaganza includes new colorways of the Cadet Chukka ($90), Admiral SE ($100) and for the ladies, Samantha ($60). Looks like the perfect his and her gifts. Each is in stores now.

Brooks and Vans both have a very storied history in their respective fields, which makes their recent collaboration that much more powerful. The English leather saddle company and the Cali surf brand have combined forces to produce a leather Era LX shoe (100 pairs) and a Team Pro Saddle (500 pieces). The shoe and the saddle feature Vans embossing and Brooks copper accents. Both are available at DQM NYC now.

It’s that time again. February is Black History Month and of course Nike is dropping a pack to commemorate the month. The company released a few pics of the upcoming Jordan, Nike and Converse kicks to mixed response. The pack is said to be honoring three of the greatest Black American athletes–Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Julius Erving–plus the annual BHM Air Force 1 sneaker. The pack features understated, all-black replicas of the Jordan 3s, the Kobe Zooms VI, and Converse Star Player. The shoes all have gilded accents on the sole; the Jordans and the Zooms have some gold touches on the uppers as well. Very tastefully done, but here are some pics so you can decide for yourself. The release date hasn’t been determined as of yet, but keep your ears and eyes open.

DC Life’s new District 4 sneaker is the best of both worlds. Durable enough to shred in and fly enough to wear to the club. The vulcanized shoe was inspired by the Reality, a popular Danny Way and Colin McKay Signature Pro model that was released in 2002. District 4 is made with custom high-performance abrasion resistant pill pattern leather, super slick suede on the toecap, a hidden lace system and custom fox tape with a pill pattern stripe.

DC Life has released a few very nice low key kicks over the last couple years and the District 4 is a worthy addition to the list. However these would have been so much flyer sans the white sole.
