Five Four “The Graduating Class” Book

April 27th, 2011

Being that the owners of Five Four are USC grads, the brand has always effectively married the worlds of fashion and sports. Their latest attempt is without a doubt the best of the bunch. “The Graduating Class” chronicles the lives of 12 players entering into the 2011 NFL Draft through fashion, art and photography. For the first volume the project followed top prospects: Von Miller (Texas A&M), Jake Locker (Washington), Jordan Todman (Uconn) , Stephen Paea (Oregon State), Austin Pettis (Boise State), Shane Vereen (Cal), Ryan Kerrigan (Purdue), Kyle Rudolph (Notre Dame), Nate Solder (Colorado), Kai Forbath (UCLA), Casey Matthews (Oregon), and Scotty Mcknight (Colorado).

The photography in the 122-page book accurately captures that once in a lifetime period between college and the real world. Rarely do we ever get to see players in a fun light off the field–Five Four did a great job of making that happen.

AK x Wish x DeCoud

October 5th, 2010

DeCoud_1

As we reported earlier this week, Akomplice, Wish and Falcons FS Thomas DeCoud are having a release party Thursday in the ATL for special collaboration pack. Earlier today the good people at AK gave us the green light to share all of the info about the collaboration.

Limited to 28 (DeCoud’s jersey number) pieces that will only be available at Wish, this exclusive Thomas DeCoud X Akomplice X Wish collaboration package ($35 retail) includes an exclusive t-shirt that is accompanied with one ticket to a Falcon’s home game in the players friend and family seating.

This is a good look on a lot of fronts. DeCoud is a big fashion guy and Akomplice is one of his favorite brands so he’s passionate about the project. For consumers it’s also a win because instead of buying hype, you are buying a quality t-shirt and you get a ticket to an upcoming Falcons home game. Can’t be mad at that.

Hella Tight recently dropped the 2nd colorway of the controversial yet very popular “Rednecks” snap-back hat.

A play on the Washington Redskins racist logo/name, the “Rednecks” hat’s crown is a lightweight cotton. The front logo is a mix of raised and flat embroidery. The hat features a burgundy satin undervisor, black satin taping and a burgundy satin highlight on the rear inner strip.

Drew Brees Covers Madden ‘11

April 22nd, 2010

mad11x360pftfront

New Orleans Saints Super Bowl winning QB Drew Brees has been selected as the cover athlete for Madden NFL ‘11. Brees beat out Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen and Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne in fan voting (yeah right).

“The Madden NFL franchise holds a special place in popular culture and the cover is a coveted position for players all over the league,” said New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. “I’m honored to be the first cover athlete chosen by Madden NFL fans and it’s a great way to cap off an amazing year for the Saints and the city of New Orleans.”

Brees says that he’s not worried about  the Madden Curse and for Saints fan’s sakes they better hope he doesn’t fall in line with previous cover athletes.

Fans will also have the opportunity to decide on other Madden features as well. From now until April 26, fans can vote on three match-ups through the Madden NFL website and determine which teams would be featured in the Madden NFL 11 game demo: a Super Bowl rematch, or a replay of one of the Conference Championship games.

Also during the 2010 NFL Draft, fans will have the opportunity to influence rookie player ratings in Madden NFL 11 via online votes on the Madden NFL website.
