Orlando Magic big man Dwight Howard is getting a special colorway of his adidas Super Beast sneaker for the NBA All-Star game. The AS edition features essentially the same mechanics as the original with updated styling. The three big stripes are inspired by the jersey and the fade takes a cue from famous movie scenes where the enemy didn’t know they were about to be attacked. Expect the shoe to hit stores sometime this month at a clip of $100.

This movie requires Flash Player 9
It seems that David Stern’s wish has been granted as the NY Knicks have returned to relevance. With Amare and Raymond Felton having monster years, the team enlisted DJ Steve Porter to put together an NBA All-Star game voting video/song titled “#1 Reason to Vote Knicks.” The video features a who’s who of celebrity Knickerbocker fans as well as a few real blue and orange supporters. Check out Fabolous, Drake, Whoopi Goldberg, Tracy Morgan, Chris Brown, Donald Trump, one of those Jersey Shore clowns and many more in the video above.

Miami Head All-Star guard Dwayne Wade has dropped the nickname flash and if his new Jordan commercial is any indication it is because he now thinks he is Batman. The spot which co-stars Kevin Hart as his Alfred features Wade doing all kinds of Bruce Wayne esque stunts.
The Heat open the NBA season tonight against the Celtics on TNT.

By now you’ve probably seen or heard about Converse’s fall 2010 “The Procession” ad campaign featuring Dr. J, Jim Jones, Doug E. Fresh and many more. Part of the fall launch is the brand new Converse Star Player Evo which sneaker. Except for a quick splash in the early 90’s with Larry “Grandmama” Johnson’s React kicks and Kevin Johnson’s Accelerator’s Converse hasn’t been a big factor on the blacktop or hardwood since Magic and Bird dominated the league.
They hope to change that with the Player Evo. Doing away with the big celebrity endorsement model (can you say Elton Brand), Converse has enlisted well respected ball players like the baller formerly known as Shamgod Wells to spread the word on the next stage in Converse basketball sneakers.
The shoe itself takes cues from the classic Chuck silhouette and pushes it into the new millenium. The designers focused on breathability, performance, superior cushioning and impact protection while keeping the shoe’s weight light. They also did a good job with design. Depending on which color way you go with the Evo can be worn off the court with a pair of crisp denim just as functionally as it can on the court with ball shorts.
The Player Evo will be available next month for $89.00 at Foot Locker and Champs.

Yesterday adidas revealed Josh Smith’s signature shoe and the response was very favorable. Today we bring you Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose’s adiZero Rose. adidas has spent a lot of money and released a lot of average basketball shoes in recent years but it looks like the tide might be turning in their favor. The adiZero Rose is aesthetically one of the best looking new basketball shoes we’ve seen in a minute.
The shoe is the lowest and lightest (12.9 ounces) shoe adidas has made in the genre since the Gil Zero’s (which really weren’t light at all). It was inspired by Rose’s on the court style and his fashion sense.
The heel is locked down by an internal fit collar while the upper features mixes of textiles and synthetics that help reduce weight and increase stability during cutting movements.
There are several new technical features in the shoe that aim to keep the foot secure and injury free during play.
From a style perspective the best feature is the bold 3-stripes logo along the back of the show. Definitely sets Rose shoe apart from the other adidas hoops signature shoes.
The adiZero Rose drops at Foot Locker this weekend and retails for $100.00.

4.0 OUT OF 5.0
EA Sports
Nintendo Wii
You have to give EA props for adding depth to a game that was very one-note in its original iteration. So much so, that some (read: ME!!!) were looking forward to this game more than the delayed NBA Elite title. This bite-sized roundball phenomenon gets a next-gen update with NBA Jam, and EA Canada has designed a Wii experience that integrates Nintendo’s now-commonplace motion control system and embraces the best parts of the original game.
