Renowned artist Ruslan Karablin p/k/a SSUR’s latest creation is the black (of course) Converse Pro Leather 1976 shoe is no different. SSUR flips the old school hoops shoe with a gritty yet sleek feel.
Its silhouette is constructed of a clean, simple, black nubuck suede upper with subtle perforated Star Chevron branding and a clean neoprene tongue. The gold accents are there for an aspirational feel according to Karablin. While metallic gold shark-tooth jewelry and an image of a great black shark on the foot bed represent status on the street. That coupled with the SSUR signature and skull and crossbones give the shoe a best of both worlds aesthetic.
The SSUR for Converse Pro Leather 1976 will launch globally in August 20, 2010 at SSUR Inc., Undefeated and select retailers globally. All shoes will be available in unisex sizing 8 – 13 for $90 US.

Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter has been all about creating a brand based on his image since Hard Knock Life catapulted him into the mainstream pysche back in 1998. Of course, a lot of us saw the immense talent in Jay as an artist since Reasonable Doubt days (a couple years before in 1996), but none of us could’ve forseen the Jay-Z brand becoming such a massive entity in its own right. Didn’t he tell us a few years ago though? We’d all be wearing his favorite hue, Jay-Z Blue. Figuratively speaking, we sort of are, although the signature color has been modified to “all black everything.”

Jay is on a cross branding mission involving himself, Nike and E-Bay. The athletic shoe company has joined design forces with the rapper just in time for the Summer Inaugural World Basketball Festival in New York City. There are five countries participating in the festival ending on August 22nd: USA, Puerto Rico, France, China and Brazil. Each nation has their own customized pair of Air Force Ones, all entirely in black (of course). The sneakers are super limited, only one of each pair are going to be sold to the highest E-Bay bidder. The auction is set to end on the last day of the festival and at presstime, each pair ranged from $1650 to $2850, and rising. The proceeds from their sale will be going to the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. Hit E-Bay and put your bid in if you’ve got a few thousand to drop on exclusives. –N. Graham

This week in Chicago some of the worlds best 18-and-under ballers are playing in the Nations global grassroots basketball program. The program hosted by adidas features players from Africa, Asia, Canada, Europe, Latin America and the United States. Since adidas is hosting the players will all be wearing the Nations TS Heat Check hoops shoe. The shoe is very versatile for an adidas hoops shoe, it could almost be worn in a casual setting as well as on the court.
If you are feeling the Heat Check head over to Eastbay to cop one of 100 available pairs for $109.99.

The championship game between USA 2011 and USA 2012 tips off tonight at 8:45 ET and will be broadcast live on CBS College Sports Network.

The Metro Attitudes aren’t for the faint of heart. Bulkier than most kicks on the market as of late, the newest adidas Originals ought to break the necks of passer-bys. The two newest pairs in the Fall/Winter line feature both a black and a charcoal base, with varying textures throughout. Both the gray and the black pair boast dashes of turquoise intertwined in the threading, uppers and even the sole of the shoe. But the idea of rocking a bit of bright turquoise outside of Easter season shouldn’t sway you from copping a pair. These definitely go hard. –Nadine G.

K-Swiss’ new ad campaign for the Tubes Training Footwear is pure genius. The spots feature fictional character Kenny Powers (Danny McBride) from the HBO series Eastbound and Down pitted against real athletes including Jeremy Shockey of the New Orleans Saints, Patrick Willis of the San Francisco 49ers, and MMA fighter Urijah Faber.
Each spot plays up different attributes of the shoe which features the patented tubes technology.
