adidas Unveils NBA All-Star Uniforms and Sneakers

Today adidas released images of the East and West uniforms of the 2012 NBA All-Star game. The uniforms are inspired by the Sunshine State and 20th anniversary of the 1992 game.

adidas is also dropping All-Star exclusive sneakers for Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard. The adiZero Rose 2.5 and adiPower Howard 2 All-Star versions will drop February 23 for $110 and $100 at Foot Locker, eastbay.com, shopadidas.com and NBA Jam Session in Orlando.

If adidas Originals are your thing, the three-stripe company will release the AR2.0 inspired by the adidas Forum Mid basketball shoe. It features clean vulcanized sole, patent leather strap, gold stars on the sockliner and navy/orange color way. The shoe is available now for $95 at Foot Locker.

Radii is dropping brand new spring inspired colors for their best selling Straight Jacket VLC silhouette. The Honorary Citizen X TREES ATLANTA

If you’ve ever spent any time in Atlanta during the summer you know that it is unbearably hot. One of the main reasons for the temperature is lack of tree cover. Trees Atlanta is doing their best to return the city of Atlanta to it’s green past by planting more trees. The organization has partnered with Atlanta lifestyle brand The Honorary Citizen (THC) in an inventive program where proceeds from select THC purchases go to support Trees Atlanta.

The program continues through Georgia Arbor Day on February 17, 2012

NBA x adidas Hardwood Classics ABA 45th Anniversary Jerseys

Well before MJ won 6 rings or Lebron choked in the 4th quarter the American Basketball Association had the market cornered on hoops excitement. To celebrate the former leagues 45th anniversary, the NBA and adidas have come together to bring back several original ABA uniforms for the month of February. The Charlotte Bobcats, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Jersey Nets and San Antonio Spurs – will recognize the anniversary by wearing commemorative uniforms and hosting special in-arena events.

The jerseys will be available here on February 2nd.

adidas adiZero Rose 2.5

No question D. Rose is one of the most exciting players Chicago has seen since Jordan’s legendary reign over the league back in the day. The 23 year old point guard has led his team (of equally young players) to the playoffs every year since he was drafted in 2008. Is it the shoes? Is it the shoes? Maybe. Maybe not, but they must help things. Rose debuted the latest version of his adidas adizero sneakers recently. The Rose 2.5s are said to be “the lightest signature basketball shoe Derrick has ever worn to give him next level speed and support.”

One special detail that I thought was pretty cool is etched at the front of the sneaker. It’s a top down, satellite view of his Englewood neighborhood, said to be one of the roughest on the Southside of Chicago. The detail is a nod to the “Cleared For Flight” theme of his Rose 2s. The 2.5s are definitely one of the best-looking performance sneakers that I’ve seen recently but beyond that, the technical side of these is also pretty impressive. Adidas has implimented something they call “SPRINTFRAME” which is said to make the shoe light and supportive while offering motion flexiblity. The outsole features the adizero Crazy Light outsole traction system- using durable materials which are also lightweight. His number, 1, is on the toe and his last name is embroidered on the tongue. The combination of personal history, style points and necessary performance features make these 2.5s, number 1, just like Derrick.

The sneaker will be available in home and away colors on February 2 at Foot Locker, Eastbay and shopadidas.com for MSRP $110. Expect six additional colorways through April.

Vernon Davis X Akomplice Release T-Shirt for Charity

If you are a fan of the NFL, then you are definitely familiar with perennial All-Pro Tight End Vernon Davis’ exploits on the field. What you may not know is that he is just as much of a superstar off of the gridiron. For several years, Davis has given back to his native Washington D.C. and in 2010 he and his brother, Miami Dolphins DB Vontae Davis started the Davis Family Foundation.

Vernon’s latest philanthropic project takes the fashion route. He has teamed up with streetwear brand Akomplice and Young Audiences Arts for Learning and Starkey Hearing Foundation to impact the youth of America and Africa. 50% of the proceeds from the purchase of the white t-shirt featuring a stylized photographic image of Vernon Davis shot by award-winning photographer Tim Mantoani will go to Young Audiences Arts for Learning. Purchase of every black t-shirt will provide a child in Africa with a t-shirt, to be distributed by the Starkey Hearing Foundation.

Both t-shrits retail for $30 and are currently available online at Akomplice’s web store and Vernondavis.tv as well as select retail outlets.

Brandon Jennings Bloodline sneaker is one of the most slept on kicks of this hoops season. During the Under Armour Brandon Jennings Invitational in Milwaukee–which took place yesterday–teams/players were wearing a few SMU Bloodline silhouettes. Under Armour should definitely release some of the colorways that we’ve seen over the last few weeks in limited quantities.
