SOL REPUBLIC Launches New Affordable and Fashionable Headphones

September 13th, 2011

SOL REPUBLIC TRACKS 3-QUARTER

SOL (Soundtrack of Life) REPUBLIC headphones officially launched late last month with the goal of bringing quality headphones to the masses at an affordable price.

SOL Republic jumps into the game with a decided advantage over the competition courtesy of former longtime  Monster Cable executive Kevin Lee. Lee was very instrumental in the creation and success of the Beats by Dre line and has turned his experience into a product for true music fans.

The line, which ranges in price from $59.99 to $150.00 features Amps in-ear and on-ear headphones and Tracks on-ear headphones. Both models have an HD option. The higher-end Tracks feature a one-piece adjustable FlexTech polymer headband (making it nearly unbreakable), removable ear cups and detachable/replaceable cables.

We’re not sure how or why headphones would ever be a fashion accessory but just in case that’s your thing the new line will soon feature swappable headbands, speakers and cables in various colors and designs allowing you to personally stylize your music game.

Kevin Hart’s “Little Jumpman” App

August 12th, 2011

KH Game Screen Shot 2

Kevin Hart is taking full advantage of his popularity these days. The self-depreciating comedian has joined with Codeblack Interactive to create an iPhone application in the same vein of his many ’short’ jokes, called “Little Jumpman”(wonder if Jordan Brand approved the title). The player’s objective is to get Little Kevin to jump as high as he can, earning points and moving to different levels in the game. The app will feature a sidebar where fans can pre-order tickets for his upcoming film, Laugh At My Pain. While logged into the app, fans can also be updated on Hart’s YouTube uploads, and Facebook andTwitter updates.
The 99 cent application is available at the Apple App Store for the iphone, IPod Touch and IPad.–Nadine Graham

Panasonic, Samsung And Sony Unite For Universal 3D Glasses

August 8th, 2011

Panasonic-3D-Active-Shutter-Eyewear

When 3D TVs first came to the market one of the things that made no sense to us is that every manufacturer had their own 3D glasses (not to mention the aftermarket ones). That problem may soon be alleviated as the top 3D display companies have banded together to create what they believe will be an industry standard.

Panasonic, Samsung,Sony and X6D Limited (XPAND 3D) have announced their plan to collaborate on the development of a new technology standard for consumer 3D active glasses, under the name, “Full HD 3D Glasses Initiative.”

Without getting into to much technical jargon, the companies have agreed to make a standerdized pair of glasses that utilize RF (radio frequencies) that will work with TV’s, PC’s, 3D Theatres and projectors.

The license of today’s newly announced Full HD 3D Glasses Initiative should hit stores next month at which time the development of new standardization-applied active 3D glasses will begin. Universal glasses with the new IR/RF protocols will be made available in 2012, and are targeted to be backward compatible with 2011 3D active TVs.

With everyone rocking expensive rapper endorsed headphones, iHome is flipping the script with a pair of cans that look like something fresh out of a 70’s flick. The SD63 Retro-Style Hi-Fi Stereo Headphones have the look of the past with the sound of today.

Two of the cooler features that we like are the rotary volume control on ear cup and the swiveling ear cups for single-sided or freestyle monitoring (perfect for DJ’s). The SD63’s are available here for $49.99.
