Wii Classic Controller Pro Review

Today Nintendo put out a new game controller for their Wii system. Nintendo managed to take all the good elements of the SNES, N64, and Gamecube controllers and put out one good controller. Previously this was only being sold in Japan (man they get everything first), but ya boys at Nintendo finally saw the light and ported this over to the US.

They upped the button count by two, now giving you an extra row of shoulder buttons ala PS3 controllers and the grips give you an overall better feel in your hands. But they lose points for not making this thing wireless; instead you have to plug it into your Wii-mote.

The Classic Controller Pro is available now in black or white for $19.99.  It also comes bundled with Capcom’s Monster HunterTri game for $59.99. –A. Kennedy

Umm, the old flat style Classic Controller had 4 shoulder buttons as well, you probably just didn’t notice them as they were about as tiny as an aspirin tablet.

Anyways, what I’d want to know more than anything involved “comfort” is how good is the DPAD? Comfort is nice, but if the Dpad sucks it really isn’t worth it. I liked the pad on the old flat Classics, reminded me of an enlarged DS dpad, but with textured surface and rounded off edges. Is the Pro’s as good, if not better than the dpad on its flat predecessor?

  • Nintendo always has a way of sucking you in to purchase more hardware. N64 for example the controller probably top 3 controllers ever. But for a better experience you had to buy the rumble pack, for better graphics you had to buy the expansion pack. As for the Wii the fit board, upgraded motion controllers, and now this…. Nintendo has been all about the bait and switch since 1985
