Will the MC and producer receive any royalties for the usage of their music? If not, what would be the point? I don’t think giving away music is a good idea.
The MC and producer should be entitled to the following:
An advance against sales of the soundtrack.
Mechanical royalties from the sale of each CD.
Performance royalties, if the music is used in the game itself.
These companies will sell millions of copies of this game and will generate substantial revenue. The music composers should be receiving royalties for the usage of their material.
I hope that all of you who are going to submit know that you are entitled to money for the usage of your music. Do not fall for the fame and glory. Companies make people “stars” but never seem to want to pay people for their work.
Learn about the music industry and make sure that you get paid. Read any deal over before you sign it, and get a lawyer if it doesn’t make sense. I have seen many great talented people be cheated before of their naivete. Do not be a victim.
